Hybrid Wiki Extension

The Hybrid Wiki  project at sebis has created an extension of Tricia which allows users to manage structured information (like in an ordinary SQL or object-oriented database) in addition to the familiar document-oriented information (wik pages, blog posts, files, person profiles, ...).

The system administrator defines the available information types using a schema definition language (e.g., publications, projects, product descriptions, organizational units, customer profies, ...). For each type, properties (Strings, Dates, Enumeration types, ...),  and object relationships (one to one, one to many) and cardinality constraints (incl. cascading delete) can be defined. Additional input validators can be assigned to the properties. If necessary, Java code can be invoked to attach business logic.

Each structured information object inherits all properties of a Wiki page (title,  rich text, optional menu item text, readers, writers, tags, comments, ...). It can thus be freely linked with other Tricia objects, found in fulltext searches, tagged, commented, etc.

Objects can change their type(s) over their lifetime to allow a smooth transition between non-structured and structured information management.
