Editing tables

You can insert tables at any point in the text and also nest tables.

Inserting a simple table

Proceed as follows to insert a table at the current cursor position:

  1. Click Insert a new table.
  2. A window opens in which you can define the table size and table formatting. Click the tab Advanced to use further formatting options.
  3. Click OK.

Step 2: Select the table style Tricia Style to format the table in the style of an automatically generated Tricia table (table width = 100%, line style, spacing, shading).

Editing and formatting a table

  • Position the cursor in the row (row and column) of the table you want to edit.
  • In the second toolbar and the context menu (right-click) you now have the following commands at your disposal:
    • Table row properties: Here you can specify the current table row as the table header, table body or table footer, amongst other things.
    • Table cell properties: Here you can select a cell as the table header (<th> instead of <td>) and also define the width of an entire column, amongst other things.
    • Insert row before
    • Insert row after
    • Delete row
    • Insert column before
    • Insert column after
    • Delete column
    • Merge table cells: Here you can merge adjacent horizontal or vertical cells.
    • Split merged table cells: Undoes merge table cells.

Applying a sort function to a table

First create a simple table as described above.

Proceed as follows to apply a data sort function:

  1. Position the cursor in the first row of the table
  2. Select Table row properties in the second line of the toolbar or in the context menu.
  3. For the field Row in Table Part, select Table Head from the list and click Update.
  4. Position the cursor in the first row of the table.
  5. Select Table cell properties in the second line of the toolbar or in the context menu.
  6. For the field Cell type, select Header from the list.
  7. Select Update all cells in row and then click Update.
  8. Position the cursor anywhere in the table.
  9. Select Table properties from the context menu.
  10. For the field Class, enter tricia-default-table tricia-data-table in the position (Value).

The table then looks like the one below, and you click the column headers to sort the rows in ascending or descending order by the items in the two columns.

Changing the width of the columns in a table

First create a simple table as described above.

Proceed as follows to change the width of the table to 400 pixels, the width of the first column to 100 pixels, and the width of the second column to 300 pixels:

  1. Position the cursor in the first column of the first row of the table
  2. Select Cell properties in the second line of the toolbar or in the context menu.
  3. For the field Width, enter 100.
  4. For the field Scope, enter Column.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the second column and enter 300 for the width.
  6. Position the cursor anywhere in the table.
  7. Select Table properties in the context menu.
  8. For the field Width, enter 400
