Managing files using FTP and SFTP
FTP (file transfer protocol) is a popular way of uploading and downloading files between computers of all kinds (Windows, AppleOS, Linux, Unix, Mainframe, Mobile Devices, etc.). If you want to access files and folders in Tricia from other computers and applications, you can use FTP as well as the browser.
- For FTP access, you use your Tricia account information (email address and password).
- When using FTP for access, the Tricia access rights for files and folders apply.
- All change operations are logged as for access on the browser.
- Deleted or overwritten files are saved in the folder Deleted.
When logging in via FTP, your password is sent unencrypted. For this reason, it is advisable to protect an FTP connection with a VPN connection or to use SFTP. You can also use your Web browser to upload and download individual files.
If you work a lot with files on your desktop, it is easier to map Tricia as a network drive(Mapping Tricia as network drive ). That way, you avoid upload and download operations and can open and save Tricia files direct.
