Using FTP to manage files and directories

Tags: ftp sftp

When to access Tricia via FTP

FTP is an established industry standard protocol to upload and download files between computers of any type (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Unix, Mainframe,Mobile Devices,  ...).

If you want to access Tricia files and directories from other computers and applications, you may use FTP.

With FTP you use  the same login and password you use in the web interface and you have the very same access privileges.

During login, the FTP password is sent non-encrypted. It is therefore advisable to protect an FTP connection with a VPN connection or to use SFTP

You can use any web browser to download and upload individual files managed by Tricia.

If you work a lot with files on your desktop, it is more convenient to use a network drive to work with  files and directories without explicit upload and download.

How to access Tricia via FTP with Internet Explorer 7 and the Windows Explorer

  • Open the following URL with your browser:
    ftp://www.infoasset.de
  • You are prompted with a dialog box  for your Tricia login and password.
  • Enter the e-mail you used to register with Tricia (e.g. peter@googlemail.com) and your Tricia password.
  • The browser displays the folder name "file" as a link.
  • Follow the instrucitions on the screen to open the site in Windows Explorer: (Click on the menu "page" and then on the menu item "open ftp-site in WIndows-Explorer").
You can now open and edit Tricia flies and folders via drag-and-drop and the familiar Windows Exporer interface.
